Have you ever seen a stained glass window in the day time? They are not near as pretty as they are at night when the light shines through them. You can see where the metal was soldered together and the colors of the glass look dull in comparison as to when the light shines through them. The artist that made the window, has talent, it’s just that when the light shines through it at night, it lights up the beauty of the picture as a whole, instead of little fragments of glass.
We are like the windows. A work of art, more beautiful when the light of the Holy Spirit shines through us. When the light does not shine, we appear empty and dull. John 8:12 says, Again, Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” English Standard Version. I know how easy it is to “do life” and forget that we need to be constantly in prayer as to what God wants us to do, and to do it cheerfully. There are so many things in life that are routine, boring, or hard. But if we can remember to pray about every thing, sometimes God has plans for us to touch someone’s heart. Even things that seem small and insignificant, can be used mightily by God.
Especially in today’s world, with the Covid virus going around and the riots, people are uneasy and fearful. You never know when your smile or kind gesture to someone could be the difference they needed to make the day better for them. People seem to avoid eye contact more now that we have masks on. This seems sad to me. There were already a lot of people who were feeling lonely in the world, and eye contact lets a person feel like they are seen. The eyes are the “window” to the soul. So let your light shine through your smiling eyes. Be courteous, kind, and polite. We need to be a light for the Lord in this dark world. God sees the big picture and He knows that even a “cup of cold water” given to the least of His followers, shall be rewarded. Mathew 10:42 Lord, let my little light shine for you!
Oh Christina! You are His light. You are so beautiful and when you speak his words and encourage and do the kind things you do and show your huge faith it really does make you shine. I think that’s what God used to draw me closer to you. Thank you once again for blessing me. You are so precious. Very good analogy. Shine on!
