Fading

Like a flower that quickly fades, was my son’s celebration of his Christian life. I was so happy; tears of joy, holding hands, praying the prayer of faith, accepting Jesus in his heart and life. Standing next to him that day at church with the pastor. Singing songs of praise. Dedicating his baby to the Lord. Basking in my happiness of answered prayers. One short year, then he was gone. Just like that, it faded to pain. Gone to the kingdom we were imagining, of Gold, pure crystal blues, colors we’ve never seen yet, pearly gates and people we missed. Grandma’s, Grandpa’s, aunts, uncles, brothers and sisters, cousins and friends. Live on in heaven honey. I will see you again someday and on that day, you will dance at my celebration, welcoming me into the kingdom of life ever-lasting. I will hug you, long and hard, so happy to be reunited for ever.

Sparkling tiny lights that are not in focus, to show the faded effect.
