I’m guessing most people will be glad to see this year of 2020 go, and most people will be glad to start a new year. I really didn’t post much on social media about the things that were going on in the world. Honestly, it’s because I don’t like debates. It seemed that everyone and their mother was debating something. From politics, to the virus protection, to the Black Lives Matter agenda, and more.
There was so much turmoil in the world this past year, that watching the news was discouraging. No one really knows the best way to fight the virus, because we never had this exact virus before. Everyone has a different opinion or perspective. No one really knows the complete truth on so many of these matters, because so much of the news media is exaggerating, slanting the truth, or blatant out right lying.
Satan is the father of lies and Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. There is a spiritual battle going on, that we cannot see with our eyes, but is very real. Satan’s mission is to kill, steal and destroy. I have seen so many relationships strained over the differences of opinions about what’s going on and how to handle it. We can’t let Satan win! The bible says to “avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly.” 2 Timothy 2:16 Also, “God says to avoid quarreling about words; it is of no value and only ruins those who listen.” 2 Timothy 2:14 The time will come, when men will not put up with sound doctrine, Instead they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 2 Timothy 4:3
The news media is increasingly devoted to fear-inducing subject matter. If we focus on the dangers and evil, we will become increasingly fearful. The news media doesn’t cover the stories about the good things that God is doing amidst the turmoil. Living by faith, rather than by sight, enables us to see God’s work. Ask God to open your eyes and heart to the things He is accomplishing through the difficulties.
God does have a plan. I hate to say it, but we may not have seen the worst of things yet. America has turned its back on God for so long now, that we must pray. Isaiah 64:8-9 “O, Lord you are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter, we are all the work of your hands. Do not be angry beyond measure, O Lord; do not remember our sins forever. ” I hope all God’s people are praying for forgiveness of our sins. We have been quiet and comfortable for far too long. It is time to fight this spiritual battle. The best way to fight, is on our knees. I pray that 2021 if nothing else, brings us clarity to see what needs to change and the wisdom to know how to change things for the better. God has always blessed America. I pray that we can keep his blessing.
