If I Could Write For You…

If I could write for you light,

I’d write for you a well marked path

out of your darkness,

into your bright, sunny, future.

If I could write for you honesty,

I’d write words of truth, that when you read

any lies would fall away like leaves off a tree.

If I could write for you faith,

I’d write for you, scripture

and the doubts would crumble like chalk dust.

If I could write for you peace,

I’d write Psalms upon your soul,

and assurance would cover you like a warm blanket.

If I could write for you love,

I’d write a poem

that reveals my desire

for your place beside me in eternity.
